Lohr died two years ago of mesothelioma, an aggressive, severely painful cancer, most often related to asbestos exposure. It invades the lining of the lungs, heart or stomach until it destroys vital organ.
For decades, research to cure the disease was neglected, and those it afflicted were ignored. Currently, available treatments usually have only a limited effect, and prognosis is very poor.
After diagnosis, the life span is usually only four to 24 months on average.
Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is the national non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating mesothelioma as a life-ending disease.
Anyone who would like more information about the disease is asked to contact the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation at 805-560-8942 or visit http://www.marf.org.
